Seahorses through to the Next Round of the Cup
March 15, 2006
By Seahorse Mark Clitnovici

The Seahorses who earlier wasted numerous opportunities through Rus, Clitnovici, Orr and Morse, finally struck after constant pressure from Morse and Orr allowed Rus to run free on the right and cross for Clitnovici to tap in the equalizer.  The Seahorses further antagonized the opposition and their own fans through a flurry of missed chances, until finally substitues AC and Mario Medina finished calmly to extend the lead.
Newcastle started the second half much like the first had ended with constant pressure being applied by the Seahorse strike force of Clitnovici and Rus.  Again the Seahorses missed chance after chance, through both Rus and Clitnovici who pounced on a rebound shot from AC only to snatch his shot over the bar.  Finally Rus and Sarega combined for the Seahorses 4th, before further pressure allowed a neat one-two between Spence and Clitnovici to be clinically finished by the Australian for the 5th and final goal of the game.
The Seahorses, although accepting of the result seemed a little dissapointed with their finishing and look forward now to another knock-out round class against a top flight team, in the next round of the Raul Briones Cup.
This week the Seahorses Travel to the LA Strikers for a League game that looks to further extend the Seahorse run to the Championship. 3 wins from their last 3 games would gaurantee at least an equal 1st place spot for the men in Blue this campaign.
