Seahorses Crushed
After the Great Escape of last weekend the Seahorses came up against an Alliance side still in the challenge for the title.
Without PDL Trailists - Kento, Chris Rus and Andrew Sarega the Seahorses began the game strongly with mounting pressure on the Alliance Defenders.
Clitnovici was played through on numerous occassions, but could not manage a serious strike on goal or an assist.  Matt Morse came the closets for the Seahorses in the First Half with a clean freekick that was defelected wide for a corner.
For all their initial pressure the seahorses finally succumb to the counter attacking style of Alliance, who realied heavily on a speedy Strike-force.

After a spell that resulted in constant victories, the seahorses run up against a fearless LA Strikers Who started at a rampant pace scoring after just 8 minutes and following up with a great piece of play wide to tap home a second after just 20 minutes of play.
A shellshocked Seahorse side knowing that anything but a victory would greatly diminish their challange for the title, grabbed a scrappy equaliser through Ben Orr 30 minutes into the second half, when the Strikers Keeper failed to catch a weak looping header.

Seahorses through to the Next Round of the Cup
After a weekend rained out, the Seahorses finally tackled Newcastle in the Raul Briones Cup. A 10 man Newcastle, bottom of the Premier League, looked far outclassed by a speedy and persistant Seahorse side.  Although all the constant pressure early on was on the Newcastle Keeper, it was the Away team, with 10 men, that opened the scoring, again after a defensive lapse awarded the Newcastle forward with an easy tap in.

After an impressive performance against Cal United last weekend the Seahorses squared up on Sunday against bottom club Saints with the ambition of keeping pace with League Leaders NHBV RES who earlier in the day defeated the LA Strikers 3-1.

It was a speedy start to the game catching the Seahorses off guard, who started without PDL players Kento Hayashi, Andrew Sarega, Andrew Pellicciotti and new signing Cristian Rus.  The Seahorses made another defensive mix up in the opening minutes, When Keeper Andrew Kadera and Defender Eric Lane tangled with one another, allowing the Saints an easy opener on the 12min mark.

After a slow and at times frustrating start to the Seahorse Men's Amateur team this season, the clear and concise instruction of the formidable coaching partnership of Mr. Paul Shedd and Matt 'Skillhound' Morse, finally pays off.

Seahorses announce 2005-06 Men's Team
"Composure, Communication, Chemistry, Charisma, Commands of God"
These are the words the players came up with when asked what our team goals should be for the season.  Our theme is "Know where you're going" Based on the verse John 14:5-6 in the Bible.

With only 6 returning players from last year's 2nd place Major Division team that went 10-2-2 the Seahorses have embarked upon a rebuilding year.  This year the Seahorse men's team is excited to have a new crop of excited, committed players.  Many of them are young and inexperienced in the men's game.   However, they have a lot of talent and a lot of potential, coaches Paul Shedd & Matt Morse are up to the challenge to instill in these players the Seahorse style of play that includes passion, determination and a bit of flair.

The players will also be going through the Sports Ministry Training program that will give them the basis to play in a way as to bring glory to God on the field as well as off the field.

Hopefully this will result in the final goal "Championship"

Men's Team finishes a great season in the Major Division of the Coast Soccer League

The 2004-2005 season for the Seahorse Men's Amateur Team was going to be a challenge.  In the 2003-04 season there were two teams, one in the First Division and one in the Premier Division.  The Premier Team, even though loaded with talent, struggled to put up good results and finished the season with only 3 wins in league play.  The first division team, however, finished in second place one game behind the champions Cal United.  When Cal United declined promotion up to the Major Division, the Seahorses jumped at the chance for promotion and the challenge.  Disbanding it's Premier team and keeping only 3 players from that team the newly formed Major division team looked like it had potential.

The season went very well with the Seahorses finishing in second place with a 10-2-2 record with 47 goals for and 21 against.  In League Cup competition the Seahorses also did well finally losing in the winning bracket of the Raul Briones Cup in the Semi Finals.  The overall  record in cup play was 4-1-1 and the Major division team beat 3 Premier teams on the way to the semi-finals before losing to Artesia DES of the Premier Division.

It was good to get back to just one team as multiple teams are difficult to manage.  It was unfortunate that more people could not join our team as our practices on Thursday nights were very full and made for great training sessions.  Our team grew together through times of Sports Ministry Training before practices, through local outreach events, after school programs, Winter Camp, trips to Mexico and sharing with the other teams after the game.

If you are interested in joining the team next season we hope you will join us when we begin training in mid-August.  keep an eye on the Calendar and your emails for more info as it comes.
