“There is life in Jesus!”  This slogan (for lack of a better word) was printed on the shirts of a team we played in Uruguay the past two years.  A local church sponsors the team as an outreach to these women.  Sometimes on tour you know that God used your team, but  the results aren’t always instant life changes.  That was the case with our tour in 2004.  We played the team from Mercedes and interacted with them several times.  Our players shared testimonies, spiritual skits, and friendship with these women.  It wasn’t until we met them again this year that we realized the impact from last year. 
One Sunday in church we looked up to see Maria Cecilia helping lead worship in church.  We were curious if she had been a Christian for awhile, so Kari Cope (tour veteran and Spanish speaker) asked her how long she had been involved with this church.  She told Kari that she started going to church a year ago as a result of hearing the testimonies on tour.  She wanted the life in Jesus that our team talked about and lived.  As a result of the tour and the church’s involvement with these women on a regular basis, we now have a new sister in Christ.  It’s amazing to see lives changed!  There were also a couple of other players who have become involved with the church.  God is changing their lives as well.  This is especially encouraging as often it takes years for  people to come to Christ in Uruguay. 
Please pray for Maria Cecilia to continue to grow in her faith and be a witness for Him.  Pray for other women from the team to come to Christ as well.  We are planning to return to Uruguay in June/July of 2006.  Please pray for wisdom as we plan for this next year of ministry.
