The Seahorses Soccer Club took a team to Japan for the 22nd consecutive year. This year we had the privilege of working in three locations.  We partnered with the Iwata Christ Church in Iwata (south of Tokyo) for five days where we played against the local Shizuoka Sangyo University club.  After witnessing some beautiful soccer we played the second ½ in a mixed manner.  Following the game we had incredible fellowship, games, & food back at the host church with Pastor Hasui.  The next day we put on a clinic & played against a top local Jr. Hi Boys club.  This club has decided to respond to the long-term relationship & our visits by coming to the USA (LA next August) where we will host them on “our turf”.

Following our time in Iwata we traveled south to Osaka where we partnered with the Japan Seahorse Soccer Club that has been growing for the past 8 years..  Masa & Chie Yokota have about 55 young kids.  This club also has now brought teams to LA where we have hosted them twice.  One of the highlights was visiting a local elementary School where we were taken on a tour of all 20 classes by the principal.  They have invited us to come onto campus and do a clinic at their school next year.

Last but not least, we ended out tour by providing a four day camp for 75 US Military children.  Due to the heat we were indoors in the gym.  Following each day of camp we had a time of chapel & skits where we were able to share the love of our Lord Jesus Christ.  After eating at the Mess  Hall with the Marines, we traveled off base to play a local Japanese University and of course eat & fellowship with them.  As a result of that exchange, a professor presented Paul Gizzi with a letter from the Mayor and the opportunity to bring the Seahorse team to his hometown next year to do clinics for all the elementary &Jr. High schools.  They even want to host us.

The soccer is excellent in Japan and quite technical.  What a great way to share the GOOD NEWS through “the beautiful game”  called Soccer.  We are already takingapplications for NEXT YEAR’S JAPAN OUTREACH.

We have coaches lined up, team mom’s, several players  & are planning to take this trip in the early & middle of July.
