CLUB UPDATE

Eagles (formerly known as Seahorses) teams play in the Coast Soccer League, the US Soccer affiliate in Southern California.  Each of our teams will enter at the lowest competitive bracket for the 2024 season. For some teams, this will be the select level which is the next step above recreational leagues. Teams that succeed could have the opportunity to move up to a higher level the next season. In the Spring they will play in JUSA’s Rec Gold Division.

The traditional (main) season is in the Fall. Our teams will play a 24-week season, split into a 18-week fall season and a 7-week winter season. We also play a shorter 11-week season in the Spring.

Key Dates for the Spring:
- State Cup games in late January and February
- Open Fields – Fridays January 19th – February 23rd
- Training for new teams starts February 5th

OUR FOCUS

Eagles (formerly known as Seahorses) Club Soccer is a competitive environment for players to belong, develop, and experience Jesus. We recognize the uniqueness of a team setting and how this environment can be the catalyst for positive growth in a player’s life. We desire for players in all of our programs to experience gospel centered life transformation, but our competitive teams are able to interact more frequently and to a higher degree, allowing for more time with coaches and teammates to develop greater relationships, increased ability, and a deeper understanding of Jesus Christ. During the Foundational Phase (u10-u13), we focus on technical skills and individual development all within the context of the game.

PLAYER PROPOSITION

Our goal is for every player to experience:

  • Excellent Soccer

  • Authentic Community

  • Spiritual Growth

UNIQUENESS

Eagles (formerly known as Seahorses) Soccer stands out from other Soccer Clubs
because of 3 distinct features that build off each other:

  1. We utilize the role of the coach to teach more than just the game. Our coaches are intentional about mentoring and discipling their players towards being a more healthy people and in particular, towards growing as a follower of Jesus Christ.

  2. Our coaches coach together. We build a team of coaches who work together to ensure continuity and togetherness throughout our club. We are not a collection of individual teams and coaches, but rather we work together and strive to create a sense of belonging within the teams and within the club. Our model combats a current club trend of having one coach working with multiple teams but being unable to be at every event. We have our staff coach multiple teams, alongside other coaches, to ensure the coach who is at your game on the weekend, will be at your training during the week.

  3. We are serious about providing opportunities to players and families who normally cannot afford club soccer in America. We keep costs low and provide scholarships not as a reflection of what we provide, but in an effort to include everyone.

METHODOLOGY

DISCIPLESHIP

  • Presence & Teachable Moments: Eagles (formerly known as Seahorses) coaches are committed to spending time with players and families on and off the field. Through time together and “rubbing shoulders” our hope is to be able to speak into and/or walk through moments of joy and sorrow, frustration and celebration that come about through sport and life.

  • Scripture & Prayer: Eagles (formerly known as Seahorses) coaches are committed to the spiritual formation of players through the study of God’s Word and communion with Him through prayer.*

SOCCER

  • We utilize a professionally developed Game Model to guide our technical and tactical development

  • For 7v7 and 9v9 teams, we use the Play – Practice – Play methodology to incorporate our learning structures into every session.

  • For 11v11 teams we use the Orientation, Learning, and Implementation methodology to incorporate our learning structures into every session.

  • Allowing the game to reinforce and solidify our coaching, our practice segments will use one or more of the following learning structures: Skill Builders, Rondos, Positional Possession, Positional Patterns, and Phase of Play

* As a Christian organization, our faith is the basis for what we do, however, you do not need to be a Christian to play on our teams.
We hope to provide an impactful soccer experience regardless of your background or beliefs.
